Flawless blends and incredible smells

Introduction & Overview

Product Name:

Mr.Rugged Beard Balm Conditioner

Product Type:

Conditioner

Summary:

Beard balms tend to fall short when it comes to providing a pleasing aroma but now, with a modern twist and an artificial fragrance, we have a new kid on the block. Mr.Rugged provides the ultimate choice for an amazing smelling balm that conditions your man mane for hours.

The latest trend amongst beard companies at the moment is to create balms made out of 100% natural ingredients. This is what we are seeing in all types of products available today. I certainly enjoy it and tend to buy all organic or all natural beard products just because I know my skin reacts well and it won't contain any harmful chemicals.

So I am comforted in the knowledge that I'm not only looking after the environment of my face and whiskers but also that of the planet at the same time.

This is why I had to step back and listen to my friend rave about Mr.Rugged being the best beard conditioner that they had ever tried. He told me it wasn't 100% natural, which of course already had me thinking 'meh'. Then he says the only unnatural part is an artificial fragrance for the scent, which by the way is 'amazeballs'. His words, not mine. Although I must confess to struggling to find 'amazeballs' in the dictionary but I'm pretty sure it means 'awesome'. So let's see (or rather smell) for myself, I thought...

But now he has my attention. It's not only natural balms, but most of them in general have an above average aroma. Others are great, but far too subtle to really get a good sensation or feeling from the nose all the way to the brain. And so here I am. I thought if the smell was all it's really worked up to be, then this would be a great addition to my beard supplies and it's something to really tie up the collection.

After my first application, I found that this balm will help deal with irritations and itchiness faster than any other conditioner on the market. The beard itch relief was instant. Maybe I have a Zeus like quality beard or this balm must have some great softening and conditioning capabilities. I was delighted that this beard balm conditioner worked so quickly and effectively to soothe the beard itch whilst at the same smelling so good, it's definitely no fancy-smelling one-trick pony.

I have other conditioning products that work great for styling, softening and repair. Yet I still don't have a one that knocks it out of the park with a scent that can take you to another place. I've now used Mr. Rugged's balm for just over 2 weeks to give you a more detailed review on its wondrous scent and ecliptic ingredients.

An Incredible Smelling Beard Moisturizer

It is claimed that the balm is only 99.9% natural and the 0.01% is the sweet artificial fragrance used to provide the unique scent. I don't know how accurate those numbers are and to be honest I don't care too much because this balm is a 'Ten' when it comes to good smelling beard products

The aroma can be described as a woodsy earthy scent that is slightly sweet. It's very unique compared to other balms I've used. Others have compared the smell to 'sweet herbs' or 'sandalwood' and even 'fresh rain'. I suppose some noses will pick up a different tone yet all agree it smells divine. The smell had become a hands down winner for me. It's not crazy strong but very mild yet fragrant.

I even took my friends advice and put a small dab in a candle to find the warm notes of the cedar wood essential oils being released into the air. I'll admit, it was enjoyable. If you have a girlfriend or wife who doesn't agree with your beard product scents, you'll find them jumping on your for kisses for the smell of this balm

Fast Relief

Before I tried out this beard conditioner I went beard product free for about a week and waited for some beard itch to reappear. It actually took longer than I thought but soon enough I found myself scratching my scruff like a dog. Ok time to test out the Mr. Rugged beard balm.

After my first application, I found that this balm will help deal with irritations and itchiness faster than any other conditioner on the market. The beard itch relief was instant. Maybe I have a Zeus like quality beard or this balm must have some great softening and conditioning capabilities.

Whatever it was, I think what helped was the application process. It's always a good idea to get a brush with the balm if you have a long beard like mine. You need to make sure you're getting the much-needed argon oil down to the roots where they are really needed. Using the brush will also help the skin get scrubbed a little which help promote the treatment and nourishment at the follicles.

If you have a very long beard give this a try. Apply some balm before giving your facial hair a blow dry and then reapply a small amount afterwards throughout the hair. This will give it a nice sheen and a fresh look before you head out the door and kickass.

Mr Rugged Beard Balm Natural Ingredients

Mr.Rugged hasn't cut any corners when it comes to the natural ingredient blend. The balm comes with some new unique ingredients while still maintaining more fundamental oils that we expect from an effective conditioning balm.

  • Argan oil: Creates a moisturizing and conditioning effect on the hair. Tames frizzy facial hair and provides a nice shine to it. The vitamin E and fatty acids in argan oil is excellent at repairing damaged skin underneath the beard and provides nutrients to prevent dryness and soothe the skin. It will also help with acne.
  • Jojoba oil: Helps to moisturize and control oily skin. It does this by modulating the sebum production. It is also known to stop hair loss by making your beard hair stronger and healthier by working deep in the follicles.
  • Wheat germ oil: A strong antioxidant with anti-aging properties. Used to protect the skin from damage while preserving the texture of your beard hair. As it contains vitamin B it helps in repairing tissue damage and tissue growth and preventing skin problems like psoriasis, eczema and dry skin.
  • Pumpkin seed oil: Protects against pollutants and external elements. With the use of zinc and selenium, the collagen levels of your facial hair get boost and protects you from harsh UV rays and pollutants. Said to stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss by blocking DHT production.
  • Soybean oil: Commonly used as a carrier oil in aromatherapy treatments for head hair. Used on facial hair it is an effective moisturizer and provides many nutrients and lipids. Said to promote hair growth.
  • Cedar wood essential oils: Oils extracted from the cedar wood tree that has antifungal, antiseptic and astringent properties. Because of this is it used for eczema, hair loss, dry scalp and acne when it comes to the facial area.

You can find most of these ingredients in a variety of balms, oils, conditioners and waxes that are already on the market. What jumps out at me is the wheat germ oil, soybean oil and the cedar wood essential oils. All of these have really wonderful and unique benefits when it comes to grooming your man mane, which is what peaked my interest when I decided to review this conditioner.

If I could take away any major differences over other leave in conditioners for beards, it would have to be that my skin underneath my beard is feeling healthier than ever. It's to the point that I can't wait to get a closer look after I give it a big trim. It's hard to make a final judgment without seeing my facial skin in detail, but I feel that it is never dry or oily. Kind of like it's reached a good balance between the two.

There's no sodium chloride and no parabens in the product so it should be safe for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Please read the ingredients well and stay away if you are allergic to soy.

Our Final Verdict

The Mr.Rugged bead balm provides a solution to all common beard issues making it a good choice for an everyday leave in conditioner. It also contains silicone that provides protection from the heat that would otherwise cause hair breakages.

The quality of the ingredients provides the perfect answer for effective protection and help with itchy and dry skin but the true stand out feature of the balm has to be the amazing aroma.
